Archive: A Viewing of Irish & British Miniatures in the National Gallery of Ireland

Date: Friday 24th January 2014 at 11:00 am. FREE IDFAS EVENT

Our appetite for miniatures was whetted after the fascinating lecture given to us on this subject by Dr Paul Caffrey of the National College of Art and Design. Anne Hodge, Curator of Prints and Drawings, National Gallery of Ireland, has kindly agreed to give 15 members of the society a viewing of the collection of miniatures at the NGI, concentrating on Irish artists and a small selection of British gems.

Members might also like to take this opportunity to see the Gallery’s Vaughan bequest of Turner watercolours that are only on display for a limited period each year.

We will assemble at 10.55 am in the reception area beside the shop on the ground floor of the NGI. There is no charge for this event but numbers are limited so advanced booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. We would appreciate if members could please notify us if they intend coming along. Cancellations must be notified two days in advance of the event unless exceptional circumstances prevail, so that other members may attend.
